You can purchase the dough at your local supermarket, or make it yourself. But I personally like to shop at

Dave’s Marketplace for fresh healthy items. You can also substitute some of the ingredients using some of your favorite foods.

Homemade CalzoneServing 4, Cals 572

Ingredients:

1 refrigerated pizza dough (best when dough sits at room temperature for 30 mins before using)

4 tablespoons olive oil or canola oil (substitute with coconut oil)

1 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)

15-20 seasoned pre-cooked or baked mini meatballs (substitute with chicken or veggies)

Thinly sliced-pepperoni (optional)

Pizza pan or flat square sheet pan.

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Take 1 tablespoon of olive oil or canola oil to grease pizza pan or flat square sheet pan. Lightly dredged pan with flour to prevent dough from sticking to pan. Turn pizza dough out, onto a generously floured surface. Roll dough into a 12-inch round. Brush dough with 2 tablespoon of olive oil or canola oil – leaving 1-1/2  inch border around the dough free of oil. Place dough on pizza pan or flat square sheet pan. Spread 1 cup mozzarella cheese from center outward – leaving 2 inch border around the dough free of cheese. Place the meatballs and pepperoni over the cheese. Fold pizza dough in half and firmly pinch edges together to seal. Transfer calzone to prepared pizza pan or flat square sheet pan and brush top of pizza dough with remaining 1 tablespoon oil. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes. After 8 mins of baking, turn/flip calzone over to prevent burning, calzone is ready when crust is golden brown, 15-20 minutes
